Pakistan Edge Past France in Shootout to Reach FIH Hockey Nations Cup Final

 


Kuala Lumpur, June 21 – In a thrilling contest, Pakistan defeated France 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out to secure a place in the final of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup. The semi-final clash, held in Kuala Lumpur, saw Pakistan put on a gritty performance, highlighted by a strong second-half comeback and heroic goalkeeping during the shootout.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) praised Pakistan’s effort, stating:

“Excellent goals in the second half, followed by amazing goalkeeping in the shootout.”

The victory sparked celebrations within the Pakistan camp. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti and Secretary General Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali Khan congratulated the national team, lauding their determination and extending best wishes for the final.

From Pool A, France and South Korea advanced to the semi-finals, with France topping the group. New Zealand, having topped Pool B, will face South Korea in the second semi-final scheduled for 6:00 PM PKT.
